Tour Makua Comprehensive Farm

Our group embarked on an unforgettable journey to Makua Comprehensive Farm, located in the heart of the Bribri territory near Puerto Viejo. We were guided by Gelwin, a proud native of the land, who started the business just two years ago.

The experience began with a tour of the chocolate farm, a family-owned venture brimming with tradition and authenticity. Gelwin shared insights into the cacao cultivation process, revealing the secrets behind the rich flavors of Costa Rican chocolate. We indulged in tasting sessions, savoring the decadent delights crafted right before our eyes.

Venturing deeper into the lush surroundings, we explored the medicinal plant gardens of Makua. Gelwin's expertise illuminated the healing properties of indigenous flora, offering a glimpse into centuries-old herbal remedies passed down through generations.

Besides, beautiful hand-made crafts are for sale.

At Finca Integral Abenyok, authenticity reigns supreme. The farm stands as a testament to Gelwin's dedication to preserving his heritage. As a family-run operation, every aspect of the tour exudes warmth and sincerity, a stark contrast to commercial enterprises.

In conclusion, our group loved this hidden gem and 100% recommends it to travelers seeking an escape from the ordinary. For those exploring Puerto Viejo and craving an authentic cultural experience, a visit to Finca Integral Makua is a must. Gelwin is super nice and the success of the farm holds the promise of a brighter future for his two sons.
